As part of their widely-publicized lawsuits, the Recording Industry Association of America has sued a 12 year old New York City girl. These people really are that ridiculous. While I understand that the RIAA is tasked with stopped illegal music downloads, if they had simply come up with a legal way of getting music over the Internet 4 years ago, this wouldn't be as big of a problem today. Why has it taken so long for sites like the Apple iTunes store and BuyMusic.com to get RIAA approval? Napster was created to fulfill something the public wanted; if the RIAA had come up with a reasonable legal service back then maybe they would have made some money off the service from all the honest people who didn't have any alternative until recently.
